PROCEDURES

Please note: Updates to procedures will be sent as needed by email.

Arriving at School (Grades K-5)

  • Students begin entering the building at 8:30.

  • Walkers gather at the School Street door. A staff member is on duty to greet children and direct them to their classroom from 8:20 to 8:35.

  • Bus riders will be greeted by staff members and will enter through a designated door close to their classroom.

  • Car rider drop-off will be through the playground driveway. Staff members will be on duty from 8:25-8:40. Please wait for the “thumbs up” signal before allowing your child to exit your vehicle.

  • Everyone is a bit nervous on the first day of school.Staff members are eager to help, so please encourage your children to ask for assistance.

  • Preschool families will get additional information during the orientation session.

    Afternoon Dismissal (Grades PK-5)

  • Walkers are dismissed at 2:50 PM from the School Street door.Walkers will either leave the school grounds to walk home independently or will meet an adult on the front lawn.School Street is very congested at the end of the day, so please park downtown if you plan to meet your child in front of the school. There is no parking in front of the school.

  • Bus students will come to the bus port at 3:00 with their teacher.Buses are sometimes delayed on the first few days, but drop-off and pick-up times should settle into a regular routine within a week.

  • Car rider dismissal begins at 2:50 PM. Parents who are picking up children by car will come through the playground driveway (to the right of the building off School Street). The gate opens at 2:40. Please do not arrive early as it backs up traffic downtown. Staff members will direct traffic and work with students/parents to teach the procedures. This takes a bit of extra time for the first few weeks. We appreciate your patience.

  • Morning preschool families will receive additional information during the orientation session.
